X-Mas at home

Last week I gave you a sneak peek into my Kitchen and this years X-Mas decoration. This week I also did a small DIY project and made a quick solution for a rod to hang above my table. I wanted to make it for ages in a proper way like I designed my clothes rack, but somehow I never seemed to find the time. So I got myself an iron pipe and chain and painted both the pipe and chain black.

I added the X-Mas lights and the ornaments I shopped during our X Mas shopping at Intratuin. No greens as I want to keep it a bit industrial to fit my kitchen. I love the cozy shining lights above the table, definitely something I will keep after the holiday season! Painting it Black | A sneak peek at X-Mas

After our shopping adventure at Intratuin I came home with so many ideas that I started working on them as soon as I could... For this year I thought of focusing on my kitchen for X-Mas and you might remember I have a black wall in my kitchen already!....

I really love it and I thought it would be great to make another wall completely black as a background for the copper ornaments I selected. As much as I love my white home during Spring and Summer, I love a bit of dark colours, winter images, candles and blankets when it is getting colder.

Although I had many ideas I decided to keep it as simple and basic as possible keeping the idea 'less is more' in the back of my head. I have been using copper a lot the last few months and I simply adore the combination with black! That is also the reason I decided to use black painted branches instead of a green X-Mas tree... but who knows I might get myself a tiny one later because I do love the smell of real trees during the holiday season.

Inspiration can come up from the strangest things and I got mine from a picture of a magazine rack, I loved how the magazines were displayed at different heights and decided to print out some pictures from my Pinterest Winter album and add them to the wall with adhesive copper tape that is originally used for protecting plants.

I also got myself two metal trestles and some plywood to make a little sideboard, as I think it looks really beautiful with a black wall. And how do you like these matte grey and copper X-Mas baubles? The colored ribbon is also from Intratuin. I will use it to hang some Christmas ornaments on an installation above my kitchen table... so stay tuned!

Inspiration for your home | Organizing your hallway

With winter on it's way our hallways will soon become the place again where all shoes, hats, thick coats and other stuff will end up first. So time to think about how to organize and maybe get some new ideas for your hallway.

The reason why I am showing the picture above are the knobs on the wall! Some years ago, when redecorating my own hall, I found out that the best way to organize is to just think of what 'irritates' you most and find the logical solution for it.

So if bags are laying on the floor.. Just simply add some knobs and hang them on the wall. Don't you like your shoes laying around, find a solution to store them away. Sounds easy but believe me it works! Here are some more organizing examples that I found that might be useful to you when redecorating or organizing.

HISTOR 101 karakters | My little black cupboard

This last weekend I finished working on my Piet Hein Eek cupboard. My main inspiration was a black box with a little leather handle, yes! inspiration can really be found in everything! Black being my favorite color, I used black Histor perfect finish on the outside. And still being in love with the combination of black and copper, I added a copper touch to the legs and stamped some favorite lyrics on one of the doors. On the inside I used two different greys | tin & cyber | together the give a nice almost silver shiny look.

The leather handles on the Ferm Living boxes |see them here|inspired me to use these black leather handles from Nu interier, thanks girls! To give the cupboard an even more Rock 'n Roll feeling I also added a small black painted wooden box with studded corners. Get your own studs here. Perfect to store some cd's! The cool perspex boxes are all from Nomess Copenhagen. Looking forward to see all 101 cupboards together at Piet Hein Eek this weekend as the winners will all be there to paint their cupboard in collaboration with Histor.

Piet Hein Eek | Histor challenge update

Today I posted this picture on Instagram, my Piet Hein Eek cupboard is nearly finished! A few more things to do and I can finally show the result. There were so many colors to choose from, but I think it is always best to stay close to yourself so I choose Black, tin and a beautiful light grey called cyber. I also added some copper and leather, just like the colours and materials in my moodboard

Mijn Piet Hein Eek kastje is bijna klaar en deze foto plaatste ik vandaag op Instagram! Omdat ik denk dat je altijd dicht bij jezelf moet blijven heb ik uiteindelijk voor mijn lievelings kleuren gekozen: zwart, tin en cybergrijs. En zoals je al op mijn moodboard al kon zien, voeg ik ook een beetje koper en leer toe.

VT Wonen impressed all visitors this year with a huge barn with different areas and workshops and a beautiful attic with an all natural feeling |VT Wonen Barn part 2| I stayed in the home for hours and really loved it !
