There is even a gold crackle finish that I would love for my own dining room. This chair is available as a side chair only at the present time. I have shown you below that using all armless Chinese Chippendale dining chairs is a very hot and modern look, especially with round tables. With a rectangular table, use all matching Custom Chinese Chippendale Chairs or mix things up by adding two upholstered chairs. These chairs are only $369 each (minimum of 4) with free shipping! Be sure to check out their entire site - it is utterly fabulous.

This gorgeous custom Chinese Chippendale dining chair has a Chippendale fretwork back and a beautiful upholstered seat.  Choose from dozens of color combinations. Match these dining chairs to a mahogany or a painted wood table for a dining room everyone will envy.

You're the designer!  Pick a finish, color, fabric, and a custom level (heavy or light) of finish hand-distressing. Your perfect creation will be worth waiting for!

Chinoiserie and Chintz

House Beautiful instagrammed this stunning room the other day. Can you guess the year?

a. An upcoming issue
b. 2003
c. 1992
d. 1981

If you guessed 1981, you were right. This is from House Beautiful, October 1981. The decade giveaway for the 80s is all that floral chintz. The chintz is Brunschwig & Fils Westbury Bouquet. I still adore chintz. It is timeless and pairs beautifully with Chinoiserie. Designers like Charlotte Moss, Mario Buatta, and Joe Nye have always loved chintz and Miles Redd and others have predicted a huge comeback for chintz. The key today is to use it as an accent and not all matchy matchy. Here are some examples.

Posted by dasfseegdse 0 komentar

Hello on this sunny Tuesday morning! Today I 'am' in both Iceland and Germany at the same time. I am guest posting at the blog of my fellow NY Blogtour blogger Ricarda who is enjoying some days off with her family.

And you can find me in the latest Icelandic Home & Delicious magazine. It was a pleasure to answer some questions for the magazine that is filled with beautiful homes from all over the world, crafting, design, decorating ideas, food stories and many more discoveries from foreign cities and countries. Here are some of my favorite pages from the magazine and if this makes you curious find the magazine here: Home & Delicious Enjoy!

Design and the city

What a great title for a series of guestposts from bloggers from different city's!  Ricarda of 23qmStill asked me to give some tips from my hometown for her Design and the city series. A great way to connect with her readers and showing them some of my favorite spots in my hometown. See the post here: Design and the city

But don't go yet as I want to tell you something about my other blog too and show you some new pictures made at Droog!
For you who are new to my blog, I live in Amsterdam and next to Vosgesparis I have a second blog -and city guide, called Amsterdamnext.com where I share my favorite spots. For Design and the city I made some new pictures at the amazing Droog Designa special place for contemporary design lovers. I hope you want to pop over and have a look at them, because Droog rocks!

I still have tons of pictures to add to the blog, but it is hard to find the time. Anyway if you are coming to Amsterdam, maybe for the meet the blogger meeting in September! Be sure to have a look at it as it has lots of nice places for design lovers. So one of the places I love and mentioned in my guestpost over at Ricarda's blog is Droog. See the post here: Design and the city Amsterdam and be sure to pop over to Amsterdamnext.com for more Droog design pictures.

Have a great summer day!

The teeny weeny ginger jar was a new addition this weekend. It's now the smallest in my growing collection of ginger jars and was only $10.00 at my favorite consignment store. Below you will find lots of inspiration on displaying your own blue and white Chinese porcelain collection. The next two shots are in my house as well. Have you entered my Chinoiserie giveaway here?

Here is a vignette in Mark Sikes' home with blue and white Chinese porcelain styled three ways -

As styled by interior designer and homeowner Mark Sikes before the photo shoots - I don't like the clay pots, the lone sconce, the bland rug, and the mismatched jumble of items on the console.

As styled by Lonny Magazine - too many dinky pieces and things the same height and I don't like the sconce
and lamp on the left and nothing on the right. No drama.
House Beautiful - pinned a zillion times and with good reason. We don't see the sconce and rug. I love the additions of the palm fronds, the coral, the seashells, and the mini pagodas. More symmetry, more drama, only one mistake. The lamps are not on in the shot anyway - lose the electrical cords!
